Networking

Since a decade, I have been active in enhancing new Network paradigms beyond the IP-protocols. Mainly, my research on distributed IP-level monitoring has led to better understanding the Internet topology at the IP-Level. Furthermore, I have worked on post-IP proposal such as ICN (Information Centric Networks) where routing mechanisms are centered into content centric approaches, SDN (Software Define Networks) that offers higher flexibility to Network functions and new proposal for cellular networks such as IP-Multimedia subsystems for 5G.

Digital Transition

I'm looking at different aspects spanning from new digital architectures led by distributed cloud services and serverless deployment. The future of the web thanks to embedded VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) up to the distributed Internet of Skills within the Metaverse  and haptic devices. Furthermore, I'm also leading development projects and teams using agile methodologies and design products for IoT and Analytics.

Electronics

The hardware ecosystem has seen a radical shift into fully integrated systems such as SoM (System on Module), SoC (System on Chips) and reduced energy consumption. Due to the high heterogeneity of hardware vendors and diversity of low level programming languages, it is difficult to prototype hardware devices without being hardware dependent. I have worked on a framework called PrIoT to prototype and orchestrate IoT devices from idea to completion with a high level language.

Past Research topics

OneLab

OneLab was a European project funded under the FP6 and FP7 European program  aiming  to run and develop testbeds for research and experimentation on future internet technologies.  The core testbed is PlanetLab Europe, the European arm of the global PlanetLab system. It is powered by PlanetLab code, for which OneLab is the co-developers with Princeton University. Around this core, OneLab has extended PlanetLab into New environment facilities (Wireless, Emulation, UMTS, Multi homing, SAC, Content), deepening the monitoring with active and passive measurement tools. Among others I've been involved in: Administrating PlanetLab Europe platform (support, deployment, legal) Validating the new environment components of the testbed before the production release. Developing the Topology information component (TopHat) as a standard service for PlanetLab users Deploying active measurement tools to fill TopHat with topological information Disseminating OneLab on several talks and technical reports.

Measurements

Active measurements was my principal focus as a research area during my PhD. I've been working on setting up a Topology information component, TopHat, that aims at studying the Internet dynamics at the IP level. This component is built on a smart algorithm that learns topological changes to better track Internet dynamics and proposes an API that can serve the research community to query its database for retrieving topological information. The active measurements are done with new and innovative tools that resolve measurement artifacts (paris-traceroute) and enhance distributed measurement with DHT (traceroute@home).

Heterogeneity

Nowadays, the internet has grown into a heterogeneous network that uses a large range of technologies from its edges to its core. On the user side, a large choice of devices has arisen and the interoperability between all these technologies is an actual challenge. With the IoT, new objects are implemented to be able to communicate among each other. Thus they need to know the underlying Object topology to reach each other. We have worked on an heterogeneous object mapping tool providing an overlay objects map that can be queried by IoT devices. It could also leverage new routing protocols for the IoT.

Industrial and Entrepreneurship

Projects

Since I'm involved in the Industrial sector with my engineering background, I've participated in several projects concerning digital transition for small and large enterprises. I was responsible for the new cloud architecture in a project for Renault and Nissan; this project was international and has settled a cloud infrastructure to ease Digital Asset Management process and Secure the interaction with external agencies. More recently, I have been the product owner of an advanced immersive learning tool for SNCF with AR and VR functionalities to leveraged the training facilities in the field.

Entrepreneurship

Since Research and Innovation in the digital area are building new technologies that are fast to market, I've been highly invested in setting up startups with innovative approaches and products development. My first startup, BlumenLab, proposes a novel web editing framework to integer Virtual and Augmented reality into immersive content. Furthermore, my second enterprise, KB DIGITAL, has developed in collaboration with IMT Labs an IoT prototyping Framework and a complete modular hardware board that are energy efficient. These products have been deployed in several  projects with our customers.

Consulting

My consulting expertise spans from guiding customers on their Digital and Network projects either through deep studies and/or training or by organizing bootcamp using ideation and agile methodologies when it comes to creating new products. The latter is very interesting and efficient as it orchestrates the creation process of the customers with their teams in a cooperative way where I guide the innovative process with agile methodology. Furthermore, these sessions ends with the creation of prototypes, either development of web or smartphone Application or as hardware prototype when designing an IoT devices.

Teaching for Students and Professionals

Avatar

Lecturer

Since 2009, I've been deeply involved in teaching at University and Engineering Schools for Bachelor and Master students. I have acquired a strong expertise in teaching Network Architecture, Web Design, programming languages and agile project management. I have also settled practical curriculum with emulated networking labs and development projects that highlight the theoretical concept with real practice and deployment. I have also started to teach digital skills to non technical audiences, especially for managers as digital transition will impact all spectrums of our economy. Furthermore, I have started to publish interactive learning contents for my students either as MOOC contents or as technical video screencasts.

Professional training

My teaching experiment is not restricted to academic lectures and I often provide seminars to professional audiences working on the ICT fields. These sessions are oriented to provide practitioners with an overview of the state of the art in various fields such as IoT, Programing, Cellular Networks, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning. Normally, I build dedicated learning sessions for given teams in an enterprise that want to foster their knowledge on specific aspects that need to be deepened or I organize seminars that are open to Inter-enterprise practitioners willing to discover a new technical area. I started this professional training activity some years ago with ORSYS, a training institute that has a large portfolio of training and seminars offerings. In this regards, I'm responsible for the IoT, Cloud and Wireless portfolio.
